FLCC offers English as a second language, Spanish GED classes

Starting Jan. 28, Finger Lakes Community College will offer day and evening classes in Geneva to help speakers of other languages improve their English skills.Before enrolling, prospective students must attend one of the orientation sessions held every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Geneva Campus Center, 63 Pulteney St. All classes are free.English as a second language, or ESL, classes are as follows:
  • Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 28 to May 15, 9 a.m. to noon, FLCC Geneva Campus Center. This class is for beginners.
  • Tuesdays and Thursday, Jan. 29 to May 16, 9 a.m. to noon, FLCC Geneva Campus Center. This is an intermediate class.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 29 to May 16, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Geneva Salvation Army, 41 North St.
  • Tuesday evenings, Jan. 29 to May 16, 6 to 9 p.m., FLCC Geneva Campus Center
Also in January, FLCC will begin a Spanish GED class, to help students prepare for the Spanish version of the state exam for a general equivalency diploma. The class runs Thursdays, Jan. 31 to May 9, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Geneva Campus Center.For information, call the FLCC Adult Basic Education Program Office at (585) 785-1431 or the Literacy Office at (315) 789-6701, ext. 6023.
